Software Development Company Creates a Competitive Advantage with Video Conferencing
Using video conferencing technology, this software company performs product demonstrations, conducts project reviews, and trains customers who were out of the state and even out of the country. No longer do they have to pay exorbitant airfares or wait 7+ days to get a discounted fare – they can schedule a video conference with virtually no advanced notice and collaborate live with their clients and partners all oer the world.
The firm’s CTO states, “Video conferencing has created a real competitive advantage for us. As other firms struggle to reduce development and installation time, we’ve cut weeks out of some of our larger projects by simply having the ability to schedule meetings without battling with travel schedules. It has saved us time, money and improved our service levels. Oh, and our engineers are happier because they go home at night.”
Two National Guard Soldiers Tie the Knot using Video Conferencing Technology (CNN)
Staff Sgt. Shadow Evans, 30, said "I do" from her post in Iraq to Sgt. Rick Everton, 29, at a motel in Durango. The marriage was made possible using video conferencing. "It was amazing," said Everton, "I could actually see her and look into her eyes." La Plata County Judge Martha Minot officiated at the Friday night event.
The couple had planned to marry in August, but Everton was told he would soon be assigned to Iraq. The couple decided they should get married quickly so they could be together if either is wounded. Before the video conference, they hadn't seen each other for seven months.
The couple, both members of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, selected Durango for the wedding because Colorado is one of three states that permit weddings with one person standing in for one party to the marriage with a power of attorney. The high-quality telecommunications line required for two-way video was set up by an organization called Freedom Calls Foundation of New York.
